illogical behaviour

2002-05-10 by coscon23

first let me state i'm still in love with the mp7, it's just some
little things i can't get my head around that bug me sometimes...
apart from the "not remembering the right preset" problem that occurs
very seldom (maybe i'm the only one having this?) i also have my
doubts about "remembering the mutes in a pattern".... as far as i
understand, everytime you get back to a pattern it should have the
tracks muted that were muted when the pattern was saved, but
unexpectedly, sometimes it seems to remember the mutes as last played
(not saved!).
for example, i was gigging with the mp7 last night (for the first
time, went surprisingly well considering the other half of the band
was sick at home and we hadn't rehearsed properly anyway ;-)) and for
the soundcheck i unmuted all tracks on some patterns. during the live
show most patterns had muted tracks as saved but one pattern came on
with all tracks blasting away!... no big problem, twas a bit of a
mess sometimes anyway, but still... it just doesn't seem rational...
i don't know these things will classify as bugs, or maybe i'm missing
something... any comments from other users would be nice!

peter.

Were you in Song Mode by any chance?

for the soundcheck i unmuted all tracks on some patterns. during the live show most patterns had muted tracks as saved but one pattern came on with all tracks blasting away!

no... never used song mode... i bought the mp7 to jam with patterns,
so i make like 2 or 3 diff patterns with slight variations and 1 or 2
patterns that act like breaks between changing the main patterns...
works quite well if the mutes and presets are as saved! ;-)

That pattern probably was in the edit buffer (i.e. with the '*' by the
name). In this case, the XL-7 assumes that you were editing the pattern and
therefore you wanted it to leave the settings alone that you had set up
(including part mutes!).

i guess you're right (like always!).
how do i get the pattern out of the edit buffer without having to
think about which tracks are supposed to be muted?...

Revert to Saved (last item in the pattern edit menu).

PS. it's kinda easy to know what's going on when you've written the
code... =)
