I've never asked cause it makes me feel like such a noob, but i guess i shouldn't since my xx-7's main purpose is controll. I've really started to appreciate teh mo-phat ROM and was making a pattern. made a preset or two. saved them. then saved the pattern with the presets on the desired tracks/channels. but when i power the system up, the channel settings are gone. presets are still there tough. what am i doing wrong?

Maybe I didn't understand well...
Are the notes information from the pattern gone when you turn off/on the
XL7??? I've never seen that problem....
I think there's a setting on the MIDI menu, to turn the patch changes on the MIDI channels on and off.
You realize that is off, when you are playing a pattern, and then select another one, and the new pattern selected, keeps playing but with the patches selected on the first pattern

Did the patterns (1) have note or event data; or (2) did you just set the presets using the display? If (2), either try inserting program events using the event editor or "dummy data." If you had note data in the patterns, it would seem that the presets should have been stored when you saved the pattern. Hope this helps. --Steve --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "malik" <malik_martin@...> wrote: > > I've never asked cause it makes me feel like such a noob, but i guess i > shouldn't since my xx-7's main purpose is controll. > I've really started to appreciate teh mo-phat ROM and was making a > pattern. made a preset or two. saved them. then saved the pattern with > the presets on the desired tracks/channels. but when i power the system > up, the channel settings are gone. presets are still there tough. > > what am i doing wrong? >

hi guys, thanks for the replies. I've saved note data but the preset still isnt saved to the track. i'll erase all note data and rerecord, save and reboot to confirm this.... so i put a bassline on pattern9. record some notes, save the PATTERN. and reboot. I navigate back to the pattern, press play i hear nothing. check the volumepanel to see if a red led lights up on channel 9, nothing. then i navigate to channel 9 on with the track/channel buttons and the track starts playing. is my MP7 screwed up or something?

There is a thread in our message archive about 6 months ago that addresses this...I know because I participated...messages 19448 through 19469 In summary, there are 2 ways to have presets saved in a pattern, if you have receive program change ON, they are saved with the pattern. If you have receive program change OFF, they are not and the alternate method is to save the preset assignment in a global "multi" setup.... Hi Bob, All channels are set to on in the MIDI menu. I did notice that my MIDI Mode was Multi but change was ignored. I'll change this and see what happens. That did it!! :) Seems kind of a quirky thing though, doesn't it? is there an RTFM explaination for this? or is it just something that would leave you screwed if you didn't have internet access? :) thanks btw. off to read tha topic. --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "Bob S." <tttsystems@...> wrote: > > There is a thread in our message archive about 6 months ago that addresses this...I know because I participated...messages 19448 through 19469 > In summary, there are 2 ways to have presets saved in a pattern, if you have receive program change ON, they are saved with the pattern. On the MIDI MODE screen, I always thought that CHANGE (either ignore or acceopted) referred to whether or not >>MIDI Mode changes<< would be ignored or accepted via midi. If so, it shouldn't affect whether or not program/patch/preset changes get sent or received. Anyhow, glad to hear you got it working. --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "malik" <malik_martin@...> wrote: > > Hi Bob, > All channels are set to on in the MIDI menu. > I did notice that my MIDI Mode was Multi but change was ignored. > I'll change this and see what happens. > That did it!! :) > Seems kind of a quirky thing though, doesn't it? > is there an RTFM explaination for this? or is it just something that > would leave you screwed if you didn't have internet access? :) > thanks btw. off to read tha topic. > > --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "Bob S." <tttsystems@> wrote: > > > > There is a thread in our message archive about 6 months ago that > addresses this...I know because I participated...messages 19448 > through 19469 > > In summary, there are 2 ways to have presets saved in a pattern, if > you have receive program change ON, they are saved with the pattern. > If you have receive program change OFF, they are not and the > alternate method is to save the preset assignment in a global "multi" > setup.... > > > > Bob > > El Segundo, CA > > > > > > > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: malik > > To: xl7@yahoogroups.com > > Sent: Friday, November 07, 2008 7:14 PM > > Subject: [xl7] Re: Confused about saving patterns. > > > > > > hi guys, > > thanks for the replies. We had this discussion with Aaron our experts and found that our unexpected control of preset saving by this setting is due to the internal midi architecture of the unit....for years I always used multis for saving preset used on the midi channel not knowing that a setting could change that...
