Unisyn / Patch Editors/Librarians

Unisyn / Patch Editors/Librarians

2002-02-22 by just john

Has anybody ever done a Unisyn profile for XX7s? (Unisyn is MOTU's
not-very-energetically-supported patch editor/librarian.)

Are there other patch editor/librarians around?

Also, this would seem to be a great opportunity to add that functionality
to E-Loader, what with its cross-platform portability and all.

The sounddiver p2k module can send patches to the xx-7s, but only if you fool it into thinking it's a p2k. That's unfortunately, as functional as I could get it to be. Real pity - it's depserately needed.

You just need to bug Soundiver to check it out, they are very good at adding support. But also bear in mind there is no command station specific Sysex documents ready yet, they are still writing the OS, so I think there are still some things that can't be formalized yet.

How do you fool Sounddiver into thinking the Xl7 is a PK2?

No very well, unfortunately.
I believe (and I could be mistaken, it was a while ago when I was trying to get them to speak to eachother), that I installed the P2k module manually, loaded the p2k banks I had already saved from a p2k, and sent them to the emu.
Retreiving presets fromt he emu didn't work - I got error messages. Again, I could be mistaken, and I didn't find the process usable for some reason.
Has anyone figured out how to get e-loader to work? Every other pattern I try to transfer fails. I've tried increasing the transfer pause on my xl-7, and reducing it. Nothing works. I have to transfer patterns one by one.
Your mileage (and my memory of this process) may vary,
:>
