I have been a fairly silent (tho long time) member. I have to say to Steve and others who have made the knowledge base here immense thru the years and helped so many for a very long time...spammers are a pain in the butt but not that hard to detect and delete. I for one really appreciate all the help and wisdom available and plan to stay as long as this group exists...starting another in itself is not a bad thing but making it this valuble is quite another!

Note that I've tried to contact the original moderators and creator of this list, but they seem long gone. I've also tried contacting Yahoo to see if they can either add a new moderator or provide contact info for the old ones. They're willing to do neither. I have a few friends of friends who work at Yahoo, so maybe I can get an "in" to get new mods for this board. I'd hate to see it go away.

And like Steve said, it's not like you can't delete the few spam posts every now and again. What seems to be the bigger problem these days is that there doesn't seem to be much interest and posts. Perhaps everyone's just happily off making music?

When I bought my command station (~2 years ago),
I joined all the Emu related groups of yahoo,
and this was always the most useful and helpful.
Thanks for all the serious and advanced Emu users!

Spams? The first post with this subject seems to be a spam.
(Sorry Bryant.)

Stay here!

This morning I did a quick tally to try to quantify this track (just
for the fun of it). It is rather early in the morning, so I am
probably off a few ticks here and there. Here are the (approximate)
results:

August:
Spam--17 [couplets--two back-to-back spams--counted as 2]
Non-Spam--33
Replies to spam--10

September (to date):
Spam--0
Non-Spam--2
Replies to spam--19 [including this track about the group being
overrun by spam]

Anyone making music with their boxes?

i'm currently running thru a divorce so have to stay away from the house most of the time - where the bug studio is currently housed for security reasons. so i have a very minimal setup in my shared LA pad - px7 with an additional 2 of rob's chips, audity2k, ws-sr, baby apple laptop as sequencer, mackie 1202 running in to genelec 1029a's.

as a writing suite its great but i do miss by big setup.

---I've owned an XL7 for over 5 years now (all slots full: XL, World,
Orchestral and Vintage Keys)and still haven't used all the functions
it offers. I've gigged with it a number of times and regularly take
it across town to work with a song partner, and the only problem I've
had of a significant nature is the #*%$ encoder knob. It's a great
machine (thanks to Aaron for his excellent work)and I'm sure there's
still a lot to talk about.
Yeah, the spam's not that bad here.

Re: New Emu Command Station Group

Dear All,
I have been making music for a short period of time now in comparison
to some of the other members. It's about 10 years next year, that I
started working in Phat Vibe studios in Brooklyn. I've had my MP7 for
about 6 months now , and interestingly enough - it paved the way for
the rest of my equipment. Before that I went to my computer with trial
steps in Reason and Fruity Lops, sessions in Logic, and now Nuendo.
Still no hardcore Pro tools sessions under my belt but I have used it
and know how to maneuver if it comes down to it. It's my first
hardware sequencer, and I'm happy with it.
Thanks to this group I have been able to get to the point where it now
feels intuitive and am looking forward to my first live PA at some
point when I'm not working. Despite the spam , a great deal of my noob
questions were answered with no impunity or vice. If some other cats
want to start something else - more power to them. I can deal with the
spam as when I need a question or have to do some research on my box -
the knowledge base is established and always on point. I'm looking
forward to what else I can learn on my own or with help and
collaboration. No matter how it goes down it will always be a place I
can refer to and send others in need of help. I am honored to have
this piece and it will make a difference in compositions to come.

Perhaps everyone's just happily off making music?

I'm trying to. :)

I don't like Yahoo Groups' interface - I would instead HIGHLY
recommend what the Nord Modular user community did - create a web
forum on electro-music.com as an alternative place of discussion, with
access to more modern forum features (eg. BETTER SEARCHING, sticky
posts, better thread management, etc.). The Nord Yahoo group continues
to exist up to this day, but activity _gradually_ moved over to
electro-music.com over time. The electro-music folks would probably
create a forum for the Emu Command Station under the Instruments And
Equipment section upon request.

That sounds better than my idea.
