Triggers can send note on/off / play beats parts and select patterns.
(with OS v2.0)
Look at it as another bank of 16 buttons in addition to the track
mutes.
As an example you could set it to send note on to trigger an arp.
Look in the controllers menu and scroll to TRIGGER BUTTONS FUNCTION.
The setup of the chosen function is on the next page.
It really easy to do :o)

Edit the song seq part in song edit, same way as pattern edit ;o)

I agree. In some cases the manual may not be so easily accessible,
but in explaining triggers, I think it should be quite helpful.

A few pointers:
You can toggle between track enable/mute mode and trigger mode on
the fly--as if you have two sets of 16 buttons.

Triggers can be set up to:
(1) play note events (good for arps, in my opinion)
(2) play beats parts (good if you make use of beats)
(3) select patterns (good if want to do that)

Depending on which mode you are in, you can set each of the buttons
(T1-->T16) to do different things.

(1) Assign the following for each button:
--note
--velocity
--latch (on/off)
--channel
--destination
----internal synth engine
----external synths (via midi)
----both internal synth engine and external midi gear
----sequencer (good for recording triggers int your patterns)
(2) See Arp menu structure for beats mode set up.
(3) Assign a pattern to each button
