Hello:Can the Xl-7 sequence the bts,i hear in bts.mode?I like the grooves i hear when pressing the pads in bts.mode.Tec support told me to loop a midi cable from the out to in of the Xl-7 and i still had no luck.I even tried changing some midi parameters. When i play back the sequence,i only hear a single note play.If possible, what are the steps to sequencing the Bts.(Riff).Thanks

You can record arps patterns and riff patterns into a sequence by taking the midi out and looping it back into your E-Mu's midi it. I have done it with non-beats riffs and I assume you can do it with beats riffs. (Beats are special, multichannel riffs.) My guess is that you would probably have to record it with the track assigned to record either MultiA or MultiB. In any case, you need to make sure the box is sending riffs out via midi. (I think its in the arps menu system, not the midi menu system.) I doubt I will have time to test this and to jot down the steps to perform, but I hope there's enough here to get you going in the right direction. You might want to start simple: 1. loop the midi out-->midi in 2. change the setting so riffs are transmitted via midi 3. record a 4 bar audition riff into a pattern (say for example on Channel C01A). Once you have that setup working, try a bts: preset and record it with the track assigned to MultiA [or MultiB] instead of a single channel. My gut says make sure rechannelize if Off, but that might not be right. It might be explained in either the FAQ sheet or the Tips sheet in the files section here. Of course, one other option is to record the beats triggers into a sequence and have the sequencer play the beats preset directly. Keep in mind you have several beats controller/patchcord functions you can play around with. Hope this helps. --Steve --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "level1pro" <producer1@...> wrote: > > Hello:Can the Xl-7 sequence the bts,i hear in bts.mode?I like the > grooves i hear when pressing the pads in bts.mode.Tec support told me > to loop a midi cable from the out to in of the Xl-7 and i still had no > luck.I even tried changing some midi parameters. When i play back the > sequence,i only hear a single note play.If possible, what are the steps > to sequencing the Bts.(Riff).Thanks >

Forget what I said about setting channel assign to MultiA or MultiB.
Instead, here are the steps I used to record the beats riff to a
pattern. (I used T01 to record the note data, with Triggers from the
Basic Channel and Beats on Channel 16B. There are probably many otehr
ways to do this; this is just the one I used.)
A. SETUP WIRING [hardwiring and softwiring]:
1. Hardwiring: MIDI B OUT to MIDI IN.
2. Softwiring: Set MIDI IN CHANNELS 1 to 16: to A.
(MIDI menu systen)
B. SETUP PERFORMANCE FUNCTIONS:
1. Set TRIGGER BUTTONS FUNCTION to Play Beats Parts.
(Controller menu system)
2. Set RECHANNELIZE INPUT to Off. {not sure if this makes a difference)
(MIDI menu system)
3. Set ARP/RIFF MIDI OUT to Transmit Riffs
(Arp menu system)
4. Set BtsCh to 16B; Set TrigCh to Basic
(BEATS MODE menu in Arp menu system)
5. Set C16B to the bts.preset of my choice.
6. Set buttons to Triggers.
C. SETUP SEQU#ENCER FUNCTIONS:
1. I used metronome on with 2 measure count.
2. For track 1 [T01] I set channel assign to 16B/internal.
I then started recording. After the count I started playing the
triggers. When I was done with my 8 measure test, the pattern had the
notes corresponding to the bts.preset on T01 assigned to C16B.
(Hope this works; hope I jotted down all the steps right. Remember,
other settings will probably work, too.)2006-04-10 by level1pro
