rotary encoder install

2005-12-16 by emunky13

Any of you guys ever replaced a rotary encoder on a XL-7???Is is
soldered to the board or does it have a connecter???? I have not had
time to fully disassemble it yet to take a peek. Thanks

It depends on what revision you have. Some of the older ones were not
soldered. If you pull the data wheel off to expose the encoder, you
will be able to tell right away. I will post some pictures when I get
home from my other computer as they are not on my office network.

I am gathering the courage to do it - I have the part
- it requires ICB soldering chops....

I just posted 3 clear pictures of the encoder assembly in the photos
section. They are the last 3 pics there for now.

This is indeed the encoder emunky, thanks for posting.
I have taking my machine apart 2X just to look at it.
Have you replaced yours? The tricky part (according to
EPR) is copper sheild - and reportedly some CS's have
it and some do not. All input of advice greatly
appreciated...I do presume that if one does not do
this right thry would fry their CS. thanks for posting
thr photos.
