Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

I need to figure out how to control my command station from FL studio?
i want ot be able to sequence it while controling the synth from the 
front panel. also is it possible to control reason (at least entering 
in midi notes) with the XL-7?

one simple way is to just right click a parameter in fl  amd click
link to controller just leave the menu that pops up to auto accept and
twist the disired knob and you should be good to go. as long as midi
remote is set up and enabled. the same for reason  just go to options
and edit remote mapping then click learn from input and twist a knob.

How do i set it up to function in remote, when i set it up before, it 
had control of midi syns (FL started when i hit play) and the pads 
triggered the sounds in FL but it would not let me sequence in fl 
(using the command station like a sound module>) how do i do that?

please be more specific and tell me what you want to do. i asked
before if i could send sysex to the ssteps in fl before but i just
looked at the sysex docs on the command station and just left it alone
since im studying alot of stuff already and still want to use my extra
time to make tracks. so if you could be more specific i can prolly
help you.

Okay sorry if i was nto specific before, What i want to know is: how 
do i use the XL-7 as a synth, and use FL Studio instead of the 
command station to sequnence the XL-7. I would also ask if i can use 
the XL-7 as a midi controller for reason?

oh ok i gotcha i was thinking you wanted the xl-7 to sequence fl
studio wich i'm sure can be done in some ways...

ok just pick a midi device and port number in the midi otions that you
want to send from fl studio to the xl-7 then setup the xl to receive
on that port. on the xl-7 there will be options like receive midi
timecode or external song start/stop set the later to accepted(i just
made the former up but i'm sure you get the idea).

you can also set the xl to receive program change.

back to fl studio, make sure you select an output port and a sync port
wich should be fine on the same port and make sure you pick a port
number for the output.

close midi settings and go back to the options dropdown menu and
enable master sync and midi outputt. enable remote control if you
still want to send controller messages back to fl.

next click on the channels dropdown menu and then select the midi out
generator. assing it to the channel you want it to control on the xl
and make sure the port number(the little box on the topp right hand
corner of the plugin) is set to the numbeer you've specified in the
midi settings menu.

then you should be good to go :)

When downloading midi files, how do you get it to save preset
information. When I change the preset  and it loops it reverts back to
presets that were chosen when the midi file was downloaded.

I have downloaded a midi file into a empty sequence and want to change
the preset.

you might have to assign the midi file to the desired preset
destinations in external sequencer like maybe something you use on
your pc and then save the new midi file then upload.
