painless splits?

painless splits?

2005-03-07 by gutman75

Hi all,

I'm trying to program keyboard splits on MP-7.
In some cases, using layers within a preset is good enough
(e.g. two layers for bass, two layers for pad).
But sometimes I want to have fatter sounds, or need a 3-way split;
it seems that "Link Presets" feature is most suitable for this.
Now the problem is, the linked preset doesn't sound like it does on
its own. I understand it's somehow related to modulation cords (maybe
it gets the initial controller amounts from the master preset?), but
just combining two existing presets on one midi channel becomes a
tedious process of tweaking both of them, removing and changing
patchcords, envelopes etcetera. Isn't there an easier way?

Aaron (among others) should know the speicifcs, but you are right--
the general idea is that the linked presets inherit the settings from
the main preset--initial controller values, fx, etc. The details may
be spelled out in one of the FAQs in the files section.

Also you should make sure your midi setting is multi,
to insure all is as is.
