E-Loader and Mac OS X

E-Loader and Mac OS X

2005-01-15 by Mathias Tornqvist

Hi everybody,

I just got my XL-7 today (yay!), and now I'd like to load the latest
os (2.0, right?) into it. Right now it's running v1.31. I've downloaded
E-Loader from the E-mu support site. It's a version 9 (Classic)
program, and there's my problem - I can't get it to run. I'm running
Mac OS 10.3.7, and other classic applications run fine. With this one I
get the message "The application E-Loader 1.1 could not be opened
because E-Loader 1.1 could not be found." I don't have access to a
System 9 Mac or a PC, especially not with MIDI added. Are there any
ways to work around this? Can the update be run from some other piece
of software?
I'd hate to remain in the dark ages with my new machine, so let me
know if there is anything I can do. Thanks!

Mathias

Sorry Mathias - you are stuck inthe OS9/OSX void...E-loader was
written around OMS for the Mac, which is solidly OS9. If your Mac will
run OS9 you may want to consider a dual-boot option (create a
partition for OS9) - or - get an ultra inexpensive PC

In any case - do something, it is absolutely imperitive to back up
your work on the XL7 as it is very easy to lose material by accident.
E-loader is a great, smooth little application.

good luck man!

That's a shame. Looking at the installer log, it seems that the
application didn't convert correctly from MacBinary, which explains why
it wouldn't even attempt starting. I've tried it a few times, but
something seems to be wrong with the installation process.
Even though it might not help, could somebody send me the E-Loader
application for Mac? Not the installer, but the actual file. It's not
very big, so it would be an easy attachment. And of course, send it to
me (mathias@...), not to the entire group! I would
appreciate it a lot.
    Thanks,

Mathias

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
