I don't think it's Yahoo, I've seen this before on the mc505 groups too, 
people find ways to post to multiple lists at once without actually being 
subbed.  Oh well, shame it's not the porn ads, those at least are sometime 
entertaining :)

We need something new to talk about concerning the XX-7's, been too dead

first off, someone needs to start banning these
bastards who are spamming us!

ok, so my PX7 looks great, and appears to work great. 
the encoder wheel has a little bit of a rough feeling
for half of it's revolution.  if I pull out on it a
little bit and twist it feels smoother (like my XL-1)
does this mean it took an impact?  should I do
something to it, or is it just gonna annoy me a little
bit?
(scored it on ebay for like $470)

thanks in advance,  and now I can actually join in on
more discussions than just the synth engine.

You could take the knob all the way off and sand the bottom of it on
the side that's rubbing, or just pull it out a touch and leave it.  The
fitment on the knobs on the later units weren't so hot.

how would I go about getting at the knob to sand it? 
I imagine I should take it apart?  or do I pull really
hard?
I have no qualms about taking it apart, I've seen all
sorts of crazy pictures from you guys over the last
year.
I chose the PX7 because of the different soundset and
the color, sucks they were 'the' later model
essentially.

The knob should just pull off.  I typically grasp it with 4 fingers at
the base and then sort of roll my fingers so it puts pressure against
the case evenly.  Wow, did that last sentence sound disturbing...

Anyway, don't yank too hard, steady pressure should do it.  If your
knob is that tight, maybe it will stay slightly pulled up (saving you
the hassle of sanding).
