Restore System

2004-08-16 by designer72003

Hi,
Is there a way to restore my xl-7 to the way it was when it was new?

Yes, check the FAQ for details. Basically you'll need to do a System
Restore, and then use E-Loader to reload all of the Factory Patterns back
into your machine. If you also want to have the User Preset Banks mimic
the Factory Banks like they do when you first buy a new XX-7, you can use
the Save menu to copy an entire bank from the factory to user locations,
that's the quickest way....

Footnote: Sometimes restoring the factory multisetup solves minor
problems.

I have some issues with my main volume knob not being linear. At
about 2/3 it jumps really high. Probabaly a bad pot. Someone told me
to reintialixe and re-calibrate the knobs. I did this but, it
appears that the volume knob is not part of the knob calibration.
Only the filters/amps/mods/etc were affected.

Anyway, I did the reclibrate and reintilaize and now need to reload
all my presets, songs etc. Only problem is that I bought the unit
used and it did not come with E-loader. I did not see E-loader in
the file area, only the manual for it is in there. Does anyone know
if this is freeware for owners. If it on Emu's site, thats great
however, I can't seem to access there files in support very well. I
was trying this for another older synth of mine recently and had to
call them to e-mail me the file because their web site just locks up
on my machine. Any help in procuring e-loader would be greatly
appreciated.

Regards,
Vic

Gosh..My only suggestion would be to try again on the emu site.. I would just keep trying cuz to my knowledge the only way you can update the OS software and retrieve the previous settings you will need to have the e-loader and that's only from emu CD or website. www.emu.com maybe some else can correct me (I have been known to be wrong)

i think Steve means "only PATTERNS and songs". E-Loader also will upgrade
the operating system to OS 2.0 (the last OS developed for the Command
Station models). it does not upload or download patches, though - for that
you need at least a sys-ex librarian program, if not a dedicated
editor/librarian like MIDIQuest, SoundDiver, or Unisyn.
