Program Changes

2004-01-23 by williambithell

Can someone explain to a complete xl7 novice how to get the xl7 to
send program/bank changes for each seperate pattern to an external
synth or sampler? I just can't get me head round it, and either i'm
going blind or the manual doesn't cover this very well.

Cheers,
Will

I seem to recall an explanation somewhere, perhaps in one of the OS
Upgrade Addenda. Not sure, but perhaps this might work: If you set a
track to have an external only destination, you can view tick 0
info. Try putting a program change for the external gear there.

Sorry, no time to test this; not sure it will do thew trick. Try it
and report results back. Try two conditions: (1) leaving track in
external destination only; (2) changing track to both internal and
external destinations.

Apologies if this is not right.

The way I get this to work is to go into the event editor and put
your curser in the bottom row. Hit repeat button and then select
program change.

this may be unclear sorry i just woke up.

hope it helps

Thanks for clarification of details, Mike. I omitted those steps.

Also, placing data at tick 0 may or may not apply based on what you
are trying to do.

1. Go into Event List Edit, and select the track you want to put the PC
message on.

2. Press Repeat, and then immediately change the location to 00:00:001 or
00:00:000.

3. Change the Event type to Program Change, and then enter the appropriate
MSB, LSB and PC #.

4. Save.

Well, I can't seem to select 00.00.001 when pressing repeat, and
nothing happens when I put information on 01.01.001.

I'm trying to control a Supernova, where msb = 0 (but is not used
apparently) and lsb = 32, and trying to change bank (A,B,C,D), and
then bank number (0 to 127).

I know there's a way, but my megre brain obviously ain't quite up to
the job!

Can someone clarify please?

I still can't get anything working, and am a little confused about
msb/lsb and program change commands.

Also can't get repeat button to bring up tick 0 (using os ).
Can anyone clarify please?

Make sure the Supernova is set to receive external PC changes too, some
synths have a setting disabling that. Just remembered.
