Re: [xl7] Re: Troubles loading Multi's from SX?

2003-07-01 by erik_magrini@Baxter.com

I just checked. Xmit curent multi does send Name to your storage device.
The E-Mu also RECEIVES the name and location!!!!

>>>Hmmm, I'll have to check my SX file again then. Weird that it would
send the Preset info ok though, but not the Multi's... <<<

If multis are saved indivudually, I think they can be sent to the E-
Mu and then saved in the right locations using the RESTORE SETUP and
SAVE SETUP menus. You can also save them to different locations.

1. Select RESTORE MULTISETUP menu.
2. Send multi.syx to E-Mu. Jot down multi number.
3. Select SAVE SETUP TO menu.
4. Change multi number to desired location.
5. Press Enter to save.

>>>Ah, so you have to be in the Restore Multi menu to receive the Multi?
<<<

If you still have the MID file, all is not lost. What software did you
use to save the multis? Does it allow you to send syx banks separately?
Even if not, it might be very possible to extract the multis (and create a
MID file that will put those tricky multis in their place).

>>>It's all in SX on one long MIDI track, no idea on the sysex banks
seperate question though. The sysex handling in SX isn't that great if
you ask me, very cumbersome. I'll see if I can slice it up into seperate
files though, I think I left enough space inbetween each multi for this.
<<<

Glad to help. (My payoff is that I get to feel useful, I learn about the
gear, and I move in the direction of desiging some utilities--another
aspect of creativity.)

>>>Same here, I look forward to helping people out when I can. Though now
I will spend my free time today lpaying with this Mulit madness and not
writing music :) Thanx again for your help, I be spending some more time
with this tonight. If worse comes to worse I can try and send the midi
file from another app. Wish Emu would release a way to back up THE ENTIRE
MACHINE in one go. Would save me loads of time.... <<<
