You "can't even believe people are complaining already and they
haven't even released the OS and no one's actually USED X-MIX yet." ???
Why not? I can't believe that xmix will not at least start the incoming loop using some sort of quantize to fit the currently playing pattern to the next quarternote or something meaningful (or choosable). I don't have to try it to know if there will be problems or, no, not "problems," that's not fair, but "limitations," if I am to trust your description so far. I understand that there are limitations to everything, and as I said I am happy to get the extra features, BUT, I would would be happier to hear, for example, Aaron tell us, if indeed that is how it works, either "gee we would have loved to do that, but it is absolutely impossible given the current structure of the command stations," OR " we chose to do it this way because of these cool things you can do, like . . . , see just turn your thinking around and see the power you have . . etc."
Right? I mean c'mon rEalm, you know I love you, and I know you write the faq, and I love the E-mu guys too, but this *isn't* your baby, even if they gave you some betas. If it were, I know you would have done it better, or you could tell me which one of the statements above is the deal. I think E-mu rocks and I make a point of telling people I meet that I think so. But I won't stop asking for better stuff or pretend that the act of upping the OS and bugfixing is a wholly selfless act on the part of E-mu, especially with a unit still selling retail. They need you and me and all of us to say we love the unit to our friends and in stores and online. Else Creative will wrap it up like poor Ensoniq and poor Sean and Aaron will join Dave R. making soundcards, woo hoo! (I hope to never see that happen).
E-mu rocks and I am greedy! :)

"Basic functionality given the context" depends entirely upon the context
of each user though. For instance, when I first started messing with
X-Mix, I too wanted the new part to come in at the pattern loop, but not
because I wanted to add more parts, just because I thought it would
provide more of a safety net when you're playing live so you don't
accidentally start a new part too early or late (could be bad with a 4
measure held pad if you miss the Note On for instance). Having played
with it some though, I see that it's actually pretty neat being able to
drop stuff in when ever, you can transition to a new part by dropping it
1/4 note early, makes a little fill so to speak.
Anyway, I can't even believe people are complaining already and they
haven't even released the OS and no one's actually USED X-MIX yet. We're
SOOOO lucky that we even got this OS, you guys have no idea....

Besdes, I'm sure there's a lot of people going "X-mix, *shrug* so what?".
agreed, but there is a difference, and a significant one at that, between
features that would be nice and
are wished for, however esoteric, and ones that provide basic
functionality given the context of their
use.
