Use the Emu loader software running under MIDI to do the update. No other software required. Hot software in conjunction with the XL-7? 1. Investigate using Ableton Live along with the XX-7 with the XX-7 as the controller for Live. I think they pair well together. 2. Use Reason as a "rack-o-gear" for the XX-7. The NNXT sampler in Reason is a fairly well specified sampler. the other synths and effects are also fun and complement the XX-7's synth well. 3. Almost any of the Native instrument's software instruments used in stand alone mode with the XX-7 as the controller and sequencer. Need a powerful sampler? Kontakt. Big synth? Absynth, Pro53, Reaktor. DX-7 clone? FM-7. Lots of great virtual sound modules". 4. Almost any MIDI sequencer can be a good complement in that you can freely move MIDI files to and from the XX-7 using the Emu E-loader program. Lots of possibilities there, including improving the XX-7's sequence editing. 5. See if Emu announced the availability of the Emulator 5 software sampler at NAMM next week. BTW everyone one of the above suggests will work equally well on a PC. (subject to the usual "my platform is better than yours" debate :-) ) drk www.delora.com/music www.mp3.com/zdrk drk.iuma.com
