You need to save that in the Pattern, not the Song.  Just press Pattern 
while in song mode, select the new Preset, then save the Pattern.  When 
you go back into Song mode it should work.  Or are you referring to the 
actual song track itself?

No.  If I go into my song, and set up a preset on channel 8B with a 
certain
sound, from phat drums to some keys, it works fine.  I save the song, and
then re load the song hit stop 3x and it goes back to the phat drums....
