I agree with you that is sucks that they removed megamix. What were they thinking, removing the major function that set the mc505 apart from everyone else?!

And it is too expensive yet.

I had the privlidge of getting a hands on demo from the roland
product rep of the MC-909 today. I actually had a chance to use it a
little bit... Pretty cool little box.

The one thing that is missing which shocked me is the mc-505 born
MegaMix function. It does still have the RPS function. The little
screen is cool. You can set up your own pictures and stuff as well
as your own screensaver. I was half expecting it to pop open an
internet explorer browser and check my email, but I guess that's an
ok sacrifice :-) - To sum up this box, it's basically a MC-505 with
a VP-9000 sampler, an XV synth engine, and a Fantom interface.

No, I'm not rushing to sell my MP-7 quite yet. I will say that I
enjoy the sounds of the MP quite a bit. And the editing is awesome!
For a sound engine it's grrreat. I will have to admit (even after
duking it out with Ravi) that I wouldn't mind having one of these
simply for the intigrated sampling. It's very easy to lay down a
beat, resample it, chop it and go nuts with it. Wich is what I'm
doing right now anyways with my MP-7 ala A4000.

There are some things in here that still seem fisher pricey to me.
The filters downright suck compared to the EMU. And with only 1
expansion slot, it makes it a little bit unexpandable. But remember,
it's a sampler. Which IS pretty cool. Also, the volocity sensitive
pads are nice for a change... But I hate the way that they are layed
out... remember when keyboards had the black keys on top? :)

$1795 retail huh? With street prices at about $1499, you may be
better off with an XX-7 at $600 and a separate sampler at $500
because you'll get just about the same features...
