Welcome aboard, glad to have you here!
Hmm.... advice? Here's a few that come to mind:

- Go to the emu website and download the latest OS (ver 1.31) and the
latest version of E-Loader (ver1.1). Use these instead of the ones that
come with your unit, especially important to do the new OS, it adds a TON
of newer features and bug fixes.
- While you're there get the latest version of the manual too (rev D).
Download it, print it out, and start reading it asap. The sooner you get
familiar with what this box is capable of, the sooner you'll be making
your own beats. Anyone who owns music gear owes it to themselves to read
the manuals at least a couple of times through, that's the best way to
learn your gear. (and you'll save the wear and tear on my RTFM typing
fingers too!) j/k BTW.
- Your best bet is to just try and get a handle on how the box is
organized. Once you get a feel for the layout of the software, the rest
of it actually really intuitive.
- Go to the Files section of this yahoogroup, and print out the FAQ. It's
newer than the one on Emu's site, and may help you with any initial
questions.
- Also, there's a brand new OS on the way next year, so stay tuned here
for more info on lots of new features!
- Of course, you're always free to ask if you run into a problem, we all
love to help!

As a new user I would love any advice you all have to offer on software or
anything. Like what ever you do don't do this...... or stuff like that.

I plan on using Digital performer 3 since I already have it (have no clue
how to use it). Would any one recommend a sound editor like sound logic
diver?? How useful are these types of programs? ;)
