key vel to attack?

2002-10-28 by pocketd@gmx.de

Hi,

another programming question, hope U can help,

I try to program a sound, that has a long filter attack time if the note is
played long and a short
filter attack time if the sound is played short.
The problem is how can that machine know how long I play the note before to
set the Filter attack
time.
I´ll take that sound for playing live on my keyboard and not for the step by
step things.

The main point is, that I could use the time between playing notes, because
as longer the attack
time as longer the time between notes and as shorter the attack time as
shorter the time between
playing notes.

What I want to say is, that there´s a a Patchcord source described in the
manuals called "Key
Velocity", I can´t find that source in my XX-7, and I´m even not sure what
it really does, taking the
time between notes, or anything else?

Another way could be using different layers perhaps, but same problem, of
course I could use
different ranges, but that´s not too cool playing that sound live,
thanx,
Ch
