As far as I know, you can assign certain groups of presets in the E4 to certain groups- but it dosen't work like say the Yamaha A3000 or Access Virus- where they single out what notes it thinks you can hear and what you can't.- The Emu system just dosen't work like that. You also have to remember that Emu mainly made instruments for fat-bellied prog-rockers- who's idea of 'jungle' is something that's hot and sweaty and full of things which will have you for lunch (hmm-perhaps that isn't such a good analogy- as most night clubs are like that too? hehehe!). So many of their instruments were supposed to work in 'Single' mode as opposed to 'Multi'- hence the snap, crackle and pop problems. I think emu are in trouble right now because they hadn't expected that dance/electronic music would take off in the way that it has done- especially in the States. The XL-7 looks like a really good product, but it is still is a load of their old ideas squeezed into a more up to date package. Correct me if I am wrong. Also most stockists here in the UK can't get any emu products right now- well here in Birmingham anyway- which is well frustrating- 'cos imo emu still make the best and meatiest samplers on the market- Kontact or no Kontact. As for USB, it will always be a great big pile of poo- I'm just really surprised why no music gear manufacturers have taken the Firewire challange? Don't get me wrong here- I'm not being some old negative bastard- but it's like, you have to work out what's right and buy that- unfortunately making music dosen't seem to be as punk-rock as it used to- and to get anything working properly these days, you have to shell out thousands of dollar just to get a piece of the action- and that's not good :( Anyway, no one has answered my question about quantise yet?! Tom :-)
