Re: [xl7] Any chance of a MP/XL gathering??

2002-07-12 by David Jones

sounds like a great idea!!
I talked to larry today and he's mostly going to be going over the xx -6 and halo keyboards but will also be going over the roms... would be cool if we could get some sort of jam drinking session together. . . Larry's played with the monkey's, righous brothers, and many other bands. he was also a session musician in new york. Kinda cool. But yeah, he does seem like kind of a dork. But then again, I think I'm pretty dorky in my own. Now if he were a beatiful woman, I might be up for more of the moaning. Time for larry to get breast implats...
Ewwwww...

I'd consider it. I was at another seminar Larry gave in IL, and it wasn't so much a gathering as a long sales pitch to buy more EMu gear. Larry was a nice guy I suppose, but kind of a dork :) He kept using these samples of girls moaning and stuff (it was all guys there) to demonstrate the ROM burning process. I couldn't take it anymore and end up leaving early :) Still, I'd be down to meet up with people, hold an impromptu jam session or something.

I used to host mc505 gatherings in the Chicago land area that were loads of fun. We'd all get together and talk about gear, share some beers, and play small sets and jam sessions. I was thinking about doing this for the XL/MP list, but I didn't think there were enough people around here. I live in Libertyville, so it's inbetween Chicago and Milwaukee. Anyone interested in that or the Madison idea?

a friend of mine told me that Larry Nelson from EMU will be holding a seminar at Ward Brodt Music, in Madison, WI. From what I've read of this guy, he's kindof a wiz - he played for... err... what band was that? some famouse band...

Anyway, was wondering if any MPers/XLers would be in the area. I have to double check my dates, but it's around august 16th. maybe we could get some units together and have a big jam session with larry.
