If it was just simple 1/16th note on and off's, then yes.  The slicer 
effect has a tone of ramping slices and other features that would be 
pretty hard to emulate with LFO's, or tempo locked envelopes (I've tried).

You could probably set up an lfo to work as a controllable slicer fx....as 
I have stated earlier, I havent dug into the XL7's patch editing too much 
yet (been WAY to busy), but from what I have seen in it, I'm sure it could 
be done!
