I think your best bet would be to detune all four layers of a sound, I think for the best bet at reproducing a true pulse width, you would use for layers of pulse waves (not sure if the xl's roms has different widths of sampled pulse waves, havent done TOO much editing on it yet)...in any case, yes, take 4 layers of pulse waves, or your preferred sound and detune (the 'fine' tune) them all slighty in respective order (ie, each one a bit more than the nest). if it's too heavy of a slush, than lower the volumes of some of the layers individually. The less the detune, the slower, yet more defined the effect. Yes, this is just essentially a home-made chorus, but i personally think it yields better results for fatness. It also is, well, synth programming 101, but everyone starts somewhere. If you try useing different waveshapes together, like a saw, square, triangle, and ____ (fill in the blank), or even just two waves, it's easier to create the thinning tear that makes the tru PW so beautiful. Doing all of this and then upping the octave by 12' and/or 24' on one or two of the layers, and fine tuning them at a minus degree and then fine tuneing the lower pitched layers at positive degrees can really create some rich and swarthy sounds! Of course, you can still just chorus them...but a chorus, well, is just so noticeably a chorus. Is it just by using the Chorus? Is it better to connect LFO wirh chorus amount, I can\ufffdt hear any effect doing that, it\ufffds the same as on my EMU 5000 Ultra, I dont know why, Thanx, Christoph P.S.
