Well, yes and no.  True, in the middle of a pattern you can't change the 
mute status of your tracks, but there's a sorta workaround.  In song mode, 
you can specify that any step can be any length (as in number of 
measures).  So even if you have an 8 measure pattern, you can tell that 
step in the song to only be 4 or 2 measures long if you want.  So you can 
break your 8 measure pattern up into eight 1 measure Steps if you wanted, 
and apply different Track mutes that way.  The downside?  If you tell a 
Step to be shorter than the length of the pattern (as in the above example 
with eight 1 measure steps), the pattern will always restart at each step. 
 So in effect, you'd get the first measure repeating 8 times.  No 
workaround for that except to use an external sequencer...

Right now I am diving into SONG mode.  I've only done a little bit, but 
from what I read in the manual (tfm), It appears that I can't turn on and 
off tracks in the middle of a pattern in my song...   Or am I completely 
wrong?
