Re: What are people using WITH your xx-7?

I am using a Kurzwiel K2000RS. OK, so not many people think of this
as a good rack sampler, but it is. Recycle will load loops over SMDI
and you can process them using the full power of the VAST synth
engine. It is also easy to cotrol all aspects of the sound from the
xx-7 knob bank. Cheap SIMMs from your old mac can be used to expand
it, and it has SCSI to store samples and patches. The best part is
the synth engine though. It is much more powerfull than any other
sampler on the market. Just make sure you get OS version 3. You will
even get a (much less capable) backup sequencer "just in case."

For rebuilding and shuffling the samples, I like to use the xx-7
arpegiators. I have a bunch of custom arpegios built for recycle
sliced loops. I start them from the trigger keys. That way you can
keep the samples running even while you switch patterns. The loops
even play in perfect sync with the song! This a killer misuse of good
features... keep it up emu.
