Basically whenever you have a digital signal there is a clock sent as well. With
SPDIF it can be either the soundcards or the instrument/mixer/whatever.  You
have to designate one of these as the master.  If you tell your soundcard/mixer
or whatever that the XL-7 is the master everything will be fine.  The layla has
this option as well as the Gina/Darla.

mmm.... pretty stupid of me... but speaking about wordclock... did
you ever get any satisfying answer from event regarding your
wordclock problem? as i remember it you couldn't get your xl7 digital
out synced correctly to your soundcard.
i've got a gina24 and have the same problem (didn't try the mp7 out
yet but i can't get my old sony dat nor my new tc triple-c compressor
digital outs into my gina without glitches/ticks)
