MIDI Clock Timing Discrepancies

MIDI Clock Timing Discrepancies

2002-03-25 by lightfingerxl7

I am triggering a Korg ER-1 with a MIDI clock from the XL-7. I am
noticing a lag in the ER-1 where there wasn't one before. Any
suggestions?
                                  Thanks, Lightfinger

Hmm, make sure you thin out any CC stuff you've got recorded in the
pattern. I've never had any problems syncing my ER-1 to the XL-7 though,
it's usually pretty tight.

i had the same problem today... luckily i remembered someone on this
group mentioning midi outB is better with wordclock than midi
outA.... and yes... no problems with syncing after using outB for the
electribe.

BTW, that's midi clock, not word clock. :) I wish the xl-7's had word
clock!

hi realm,

mmm.... pretty stupid of me... but speaking about wordclock... did
you ever get any satisfying answer from event regarding your
wordclock problem? as i remember it you couldn't get your xl7 digital
out synced correctly to your soundcard.
i've got a gina24 and have the same problem (didn't try the mp7 out
yet but i can't get my old sony dat nor my new tc triple-c compressor
digital outs into my gina without glitches/ticks)
-sorry for the bad english but i guess you'll understand

Basically whenever you have a digital signal there is a clock sent as well. With
SPDIF it can be either the soundcards or the instrument/mixer/whatever. You
have to designate one of these as the master. If you tell your soundcard/mixer
or whatever that the XL-7 is the master everything will be fine. The layla has
this option as well as the Gina/Darla.
