Re: [xl7] Re: extra ROMS for XL7

2008-08-21 by Fred Smith

Thanks for the replies, it's really helpful. Considering the permutations with the standard rom, I think I'm going to go the programming road.... 1000 odd samples, 4 layers, filters etc, cords....mmmm

two questions now arise....
1. how do people best manage their created pre-sets, I'm thinking I have to write stuff down on paper, like a catalogue...i think this is just an interface issue..I'm tyring to learn Emulator X2 as well now, so i can see how software is so much better in an interface way, but lacking in a live performnace way that the command station does so well....you can do some really cool stuff live on the XL7
2. the xl7 is really good for minimal techno...nice
3. has anyone made their own roms from one of those ultra samplers?? i see it's possible to burn your own if you have one of those ultra series machines, maybe it's better to get one of those an make your own rom?

Comments welcome.
PEACE

I have both Beat and TSCY in an Orbit 3 along with XL-2 and Vintage.
My P2K has Composer, Protozoa, Adv Orch and World.

Generally, people seem to either love or hate the Beat Garden ROM. I
love playing with it. I like the combinations of almost acoustic
sounding instruments with the electronica. However, most of my tracks
only use it and the TSCY for basses and drums and percussive fills
which probably tells you something. My best purchases were the
Protozoa and World ROMs. I wouldn't buy Adv Orch again, probably.
