Ed, I have never had 2 units side-by-side to transfer banks like you are trying to do; but you might try transferring the banks from Unit 1 to Unit 2 with the ROMS installed in Unit 1 and then move the ROMS to Unit 2. Another option to try would be to store the sysex banks on a computer as an intermediate step. (I use SONAR.) It makes perfect sense that you'd get the "not installed" message in the unit that doesn't have the ROMs, but I don't understand why you'd get that in the one that has the ROMs. Until you mentioned it, I had no thoughts as to what might happen to the integrity of the data if you try to transmit user presets with the ROMs removed. I'd be interested in doing a comparison, though. If you want, send me (a) one (or more) user bank(s)--in sysex file format from the unit 1 without the ROMs and (b) the same user bank(s) from unit 1 with the ROMs back in there. Are you saying e-loader doesn't transfer patterns? (I assume you are saving them to computer first and then either switching the XL-7s or the midi setup--if you have them connected on two port.) Is the sysex ID the same on both XL-7s? --Steve --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "gongworks" <gongworks@...> wrote: > > Greetings Experts! > > I have (2) XL7's here, trying to get all USER preset and patterns from > 1 (1) to another (2).
