This is actually done in the very same menu.. In the Pattern Edit menu one of the last menu-settings is called "assign channels" (or similar, i'm currently not at my gear) and in the bottom row, it shows you the selected midi channel on the left and "dest:" on the right.. the values for "dest" can be set to "int", "ext" and "both".. i guess it's self-explaining that "int" means internal, "ext" stands for external and when having the value at "both", the data is used for as well internal, as external communication.. i actually use the "both" setting quite often, to combine the sounds from my roms with pads on my samplers or other gear..
