It seems that in spring 2004 I dabbled with layering midi sax tracks
in song mode on top of a chain of patterns strung together in step
mode. I am not sure if the discussion is useful to you, but here

I ended up doing overdubs in sections (one pattern at a time) and
then chaining the patterns together.
Perhaps your discussion of song mode will bring out some other tips
and ideas.
