Hmmmm....I don't know, honestly. I'm using the same cables (1/4") that I use to plug a guitar into an amp, or my mic preamp into the AW16G. I mostly only hook up the mono (right) output of the XL-7 into the AW16G. But like I said - if I unplug the cable from the mono output and plug it into the headphone jack - the sound is unchanging and crystal clear. That's what makes me think it's not the cables, but the outputs. What's the difference between balanced and unbalanced cables?
