   Sampled breaks and sounds, a lot lifted from Vinyl..... Probably 12bit 
samplers in some cases (esp the earlier stuff).  If your going for the 
muffled approach ;)
and add some time stretching using an old algorythm.

   You can sequence beats, but the very nature of early jungle is quite 
often the cut up brake beats.  A lot of things where done much simpler due 
to the limitations of the hardware at the time, that made this 'sound' 
dooable in the first place.

   The very fact that these recordings are Vinyl, means that they have 
quite heavy  compression.
