Mom used to tell me to have a "belly laugh" at least once a day. Aaron, you did a blessing! I though we were finally getting beyond this issue. :-( [snip] > In step edit mode (which *hasn't* been brought up yet) . . . [snip] Hey!!! I brought it up in September and again last week via a link that re-started this thread!! (Text follows. See section II.) Seriously, Aaron or anyone else, if I've made some errors or could add to the outline, make specific suggests and I will revise and post in files. =============================================== Here follows a repost from 9/1/2004 =============================================== From: "steve_the_composer" Date: Wed Sep 1, 2004 12:47 pm Subject: How to edit individual note lengths; How to set up note lengths in step mode CONTENTS: =========================================================== I. Editing note lengths (and other data) in recorded patterns II. Setting up note lengths in Record: Step Mode III. Setting and editing note lengths in Grid Mode =========================================================== Thanks to Erik and Aaron for their tips and clarifications. =========================================================== I. Editing note lengths (and other data) in recorded patterns I edit individual note lengths and other data in recorded patterns using Preset Edit Mode. (1) Select Pattern to Edit (2) Press Edit Pattern (3a) Scroll to NOTE [note editor menu] to edit note lengths (3b) Scroll to EVENT [event editor menu] to edit events (4) Press enter to view/edit (5) Select track to edit (6) Place the cursor under the dash in the <-> field (7) Find the note [or event] you want to change (8) Scoll to the dur [duration] value and change it. You could also change notes en masse with quantize. =========================================================== II. Setting up note lengths in Record: Step Mode In step record mode, resolution determines the space between notes and gate determines the note duration. For example, in 4/4: Res:whl Gate:50% Auto:Y automatically places successive 1/2 notes [duration = 2.000 beats] at the start of every 4 beat measure. =========================================================== III. Setting and editing note lengths in Record: Grid Mode In grid record mode, (1) the Track Enable/Mute-Trigger button ------> rotates you through grid resolution (2) the Quick Edit-Program-Volume-Pan button ------> toggles the grid editor between velocity and gate setting --------->gate = duration as percent of step resolution Hope this helps. --Steve --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "||||* *||||" <trabantmusic@h...> wrote: > > id like to use the step editor to edit note lengths, somebody > knows if its possible? > T
