Re: [xl7] Re: Setup for Sequencing Hell

The XL-7 spec and the manual say it is there is a 16 channel sequencer so you can't have 32 channels sequenced. You get to choose which 16 of the 32 available midi channels you wish to use............

Since I have read this mail I 'm doubting about having 32 tracks sequenced in my xl7. Is it possible for example to sequence 16 internal tracks to midi A and 16 others tracks to midi B. I think it isn't because of the pattern edit show only 16 " canal ".
Is there a way to do what i want selecting in this last menu C1A : Multi A and C2A : Multi B?
  Thanks for your reply.

Sounds like you've got rechannelize off. Turn it on in the MIDI menu. Also,
make sure your Keyboard Channel is set to "Basic" in the CONTROLLERS menu.
If it is set to a specific channel, rechannelize won't affect it.

Tracks 1-16 are always lit in the command functions section - there are 16
tracks. Each track can be set to its own output destination - A or B port,
  internal or external.

Example: Tracks 1-3 are internal sounds, Track 4 is an external sound on
channel 1 on the synth connected to port B.

Going into Pattern Edit, I scroll to the CHANNEL ASSIGN screen, make sure it
says T04 in the left corner. If not I scroll to it with the Track/Channel
buttons. I change the Channel: to "01B" and the Dest: to "ext".

In the MIDI menu, Rechannelize should be "always". Both the keyboard and the
knobs should be set to transmit MIDI.

Now, when I select Track 4, it will play my external synth connected to Port
B on MIDI channel 1. Button number 4 in the Command Functions section will
mute and un-mute this track. Pretty darn nifty, eh?

The Command Station sequencer seems a bit strange at first, but having used
quite a few other hardware sequencers, I find it to be a nice blend of
simplicity and flexibility. Everything is routable somewhere, but setting
things up initially is pretty easy and as you see, quite logical. I strongly
suggest reading the manual if you haven't - it's one of the better manuals
out there and it explains the sequencer very well!
