The virus is a fine synth, however it's a virtual analog.
The original poster specifically said experimental and unique.
Unless you want to use reaktor or supercollider or kyma or some other 
software based approach,
you can't touch the versatility of a G2. I have no problems with the 
build quality.
Useless in 25 years? It will still do exactly what it does today, just 
like the virus.
However, by then I expect that lots of new and better things will have 
come along.
Anyway I'll be 75 years old then, so maybe I'll only be interested in 
the old stuff!
