Thanks to everyone who listened to the file I posted and to those who 
posted comments on this issue.  Since the asf.file (335k) takes up 
most of the file space that was left before I posted the file, I will 
be deleting the file either this evening or in the early morning 
hours.

SO:

If you want to hear what the EarlyRizer filter problem sounds like, 
give it a listen.  (Its in a folder named TEMPORARY in the files 
section.)
