I have just started teaching myself Sonar 3. I took a look at the generic control surfaces, had trouble with the tutorial, and had two phone conversations with tech support. I will try some testing over the next few days and might be able to test a setup that meets your needs and gives me some ideas for my own use of control surfaces. For starters, (1) what hardware controls in the E-Mu do you want to have control in Sonar and (2) what do you want them to control? --Steve BTW: So far I figured out three things in Sonar 3: (1) To asign control surfaces: --(a) Click Options | Control Surfaces --(b) Click the Yellow + --(c) Select Cakewalk Generic Surface --(d) Select Input and Output Ports [This assumes you already have your midi devices identified via Options | Midi Devices.] (2) To put a Control Surfaces drop down menu on the tool bar: --(a) Click View | Toolbars --(b) Select Control Surface [Once you have done this, you have an icon shortcut to the Control Surfaces Properties--where you do the set up.] (3) To open the Control Surface Setup Dialog --Method 1: --(a) Select the surface in the toolbar display. (See (2) above.) --(b) Click the Properties icon --Method 2: --(a) Click Tools --(b) Select the surface you want to set up. (Step (1) above adds them to the Tools menu.) I got a little further, but not ready to spell out the details. --Steve --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "dwoodaman" <dwoodaman@y...> wrote: > Hi all - > I know rEalm can do this with Cubase - hell, what can't he do??? - but > has anyone done anything with using the XL to control say volume and > panning for mixing?
