Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

I know rEalm can do this with Cubase - hell, what can't he do???

Has anyone done anything with using the XL to control say volume and 
panning for mixing? I have read that it can be difficult to set up a 
"generic" control surface so any info would be greatly appreciated.
