Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

I am finally getting into using the E-Mu sequencer for composing and 
orchestrating and am discovering even more complexity than I had
imagined.  It seems like all of the E-Mu components need to be 
considered as separate subsystems.  I am seeking (1) confirmation of 
stuff I am discovering and (2) insights that others may have 
discovered.

I am working on a song that (so far) has Drums (Track 1 Channel 1) 
and Keyboard (Track 2 Channel 2).  I am overdubbing midi sax leads 
with realtime song mode record.

1.  Track mutes buttons seem only to apply to pattern data .  Correct?
2.  Volume and pan knobs seem to apply to both pattern and song 
data.  Correct?

Perhaps there are settings that affect these, but I haven't found 
them yet.  Thanks.
