well, i've tried IE, Firefox, Safari, and Camino (Mac OS X, btw), and none
of them show a navigation menu on the left hand side... until...

i enable Java.

lest you all think i'm insane (and that's still a possibility), the navi.htm
navigation bar on the left side, of which ye speak, is a java applet, and
for those of us who surf internet java-less ('cause lets face it, Java is
crap most of the time) there is no navigation bar. this isn't JavaScript,
mind you, but regular old applet-loading Java. ugh. i hate sites that
require Java to read. at the very least they should put a regular non-java
bit of text in there telling folks that Java is required to view the site
properly, especially when Java wasn't needed in the older site. that's just
user un-friendly design. surely i can't be the only one browsing with java
disabled?*

now i feel kinda stupid for not figuring that out pre-rant. oh well. the
other points in my message are still valid, though. :D
