Mainly I just need a simple tabletop sampler with hands on control of effects and filter. It'll only be for live use triggering simple loops and one shots, so I don't anything fancy or huge polyphony. I'm far more concerned that it's fun to play and hands on. Right now it's a toss up between the Korg ESX-1 (lot's of hands on control, effects, etc) and the MPC1000 (rugged, and I like Akai samplers). It would be the MPC1k in a heartbeat, if only you could control the effects or other parameter with the sliders better. That note on variation thing is a bit limiting though... rEalm It would save me the (ongoing) trouble of trying to find a sampler to complement my XL-7. Let's talk about this. I noted this week that the Akai MPC-1000 looks nice. -m@ Yahoo!
