Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

As stated before Program mode is one of the most powerful and underused 
parts of the XX-7's IMO.  With it, you can freely assign any CC on any 
midi channel (in the Controllers Menu) to one of the 16 knobs.  That way, 
you can control external gear with the XX-7's, as well as software like 
Reason or Cubase.  This in effect, gives you a fully featured control 
surface as part of your Command Station. 

But it's not just external gear that can be controlled either.  For 
instance I have a Program setup where the knobs control the filter cutoff 
for internal MIDI channels 1-16.  That way I can tweak the cutoff of all 
16 Tracks (err...channels really) without having to use the track up and 
down buttons to select the track first. 

Now if I could just figure out a way to control the effects parameters 
while in Multimode with these knobs, I'll be happy.  Anyone got any ideas?

Question.
Theres one button on my xx7 that I never use and what disturbs me is 
that I cant imagine how I´d use it if i needed to. Its has the most 
vague explanation for a feature in the user manual, too.
It´s the program button next to quick edit.
 I use cubase to edit sequences (purely for the graphic interface) 
then load the seqences into my xx7 via e-loader to jam with. 
So, if it is ,as i suspect, for program changes do i need this 
feature?
I noticed that the midi out LED lights up when i turn it. But nothing 
changes on my external EMU vintage keys synth!!!

Does anybody use it? How do you use it?
Any suggestions/explainations welcome.
