Not to sound too unpro, but what about the Boss SP-303? I've been using it for a while, and it works pretty good, IMO. Sure, it's not velocity sensative, but it's got some ok effects. I use it mostly for sampling one-liners out of movies and TV, to trigger during songs. For that, it's great. Cheap, small footprint, and expandable using SmartMedia (up to 64MB). Can even use it as an effects proccessor using Line In or Mic. Has a MIDI In, so the XL-7 could even trigger it.
