Okay, having browsed the manual, it seems the trigger buttons only send midi notes ;/ The triggers do have latching/momentary modes but without the ability to send controller data this is mostly useless for what I had in mind... However, there are 2 footswitches that can be programmed to send controller data. They don't seem to have programmable latching/momentary modes, and aren't ideal, but they may do at a pinch... Unfortunately this means I am in a quandry over whether to go ahead with my acquisition of a second-hand (but unused) MP-7, which involves the sale of my Doepfer Regelwerk, or to keep the Regelwerk. The Regelwerk can do all the things I was asking about with ease, but the MP-7 sports a proper sequencer and on-board sounds (which I can add my own to using a 32MB flash ROM I have acquired dead cheap - currently in my sampler providing instant access to sounds but not really needed considering I can set the sampler to autoload a bank on bootup). I was thinking an MP-7 and flash ROM would allow me to play out without the need for any other kit - altho given the opportunity I would take my E4 Ultra, my Axon, Dopefer Drehbank and my RM1x to give me more sound creation/manipulation options... I have arranged to collect the MP-7 tomorrow, and someone is coming over to pick up the Regelwerk saturday morning... I could easily sell the MP-7 for what I am paying for it if it don't work out, but I fear that if I sell the Regelwerk then once it's gone, it's gone... unless I buy a new one, or something like a Novation Remote-24 (anyone got any experience of one of these? Is the build quality any good or are they too plasticy to stand up to much abuse?) On the other hand, I've been trying to sell the Regelwerk for a while so I don't want to pass up the opportunity... Decisions, decisions.... Mind you, with the Drehbank and the MP-7 I will have a combined total of 80 knobs to mess with, so maybe I could setup some of those to do what I was hoping to use the buttons for... Sorry for mindless rambling/thinking out loud, but if anyone's got any ideas/recommendations then feel free... Regards, Stu p.s. Aaron - is there any hope of getting you to add controller functionality to the trigger buttons? It seems to me all you've got to do is add an option to change the first byte of the note on message from 9n to Bn... I can't see that being too hard... -----Original Message----- From: Stu [mailto:routerman@...] Sent: 18 September 2003 13:57 To: xl7@yahoogroups.com Subject: RE: [xl7] Bank Select My question for today is... can you set the XX-7 trigger buttons to send stuff like controllers, sysex, program changes, etc, or is it just notes? Also, can you set them up to be latching/momentary? Give me a sec and I'll give you the answers after I RTFM...
