You can merge any inputs to any outputs. Note plural. You can also filter data such as aftertouch on any routing. When my first MTP/AV died I replaced it with a Midiman 8x8. Two weeks later I took it back because the routing was very limited. If you wanted to rout the input of port 1 to the output of port 3, you had to do it with all 16 channels. The MTP/AV does not have this restriction. The MTP/AV will also respond to program change, turning your keyboard into a master controller. You can also link two units for a true 16x16 patch bay if your operating system will handle 16 MIDI ports. The programs can be edited by the front panel, but the included editor is much simpler. Just drag and drop your connections on the screen and then tell it to save to the unit. Robert
