This is similar to putting a Chevy small block into an old VW Bug....

My personal issue with DIY is that, years later, one must face one's
own idea of being 'clever' - and then fix it....  I still have a few
items in my studio that require this attention, searching the net
every day for some way out...  (Actually, my big Wiard system is my
solution to my DIY whoas with my old 9 panel Serge... - now I have
Grant to chat with when something bizarre happens, such as lightning
knocking out several devices in my system a few years ago, including
my Wiard.  An interesting note - the lightning blew out the regulators
on ALL of the PSUs, and the 300 Series VCOs STILL TRACKED!!!)

Yes, IMHO, produced modules vs. DIY - Grant vs. my own instincts.... 
A priceless choice, that has allowed me to make more music, and solder
less (although the PSIM has kept me up at night breathing in those
lead fumes...)!
