EG Intensity knob not working

EG Intensity knob not working

2014-09-27 by Robert Fantinatto

Hello!  I recently had my KLM-367 board repaired and all is working well except for the EG Intensity, it has no effect...

Can anyone suggest where to look?  I'm pretty handy with a multimeter and oscilloscope...

First thing is to check on which module the problem is.
With the DVM measure at KLM-367/IC7/pin1 (obtain GND at KLM-367/TP3).
Now turn the EG-intensity knob. The voltage should go from -5V to +5V.
If it does then KLM367 is OK and the fault is on KLM-366.
If it does not the problem is on KLM-367 and/or KLM-370

Make this measurement and post the result.

Johannes

Hi Johannes,

Thank you for the suggestion...

I checked the voltage on pin 1 of IC7 on the KLM-367 and it reacts as expected!  About -5V CCW, 0 at indent, about +5 CW, I tried re-seating the CN05 cable on both ends, but that didn't work.  I've checked that the signal is making it to pin 10 on the CN05 connector on the KLM-367 side and it is there as expected.

Any suggestions where I should look on the KLM-366?

Thanks so much!

Rob

Hey Johannes,

Well, I managed to repair the problem!  Thank you so much for your help.

I found some corrosion on the KLM-366 board which prevented the signal from pin 10 to get to IC 15 pin 2, so I simply soldered in a wire to bridge this connection and it is now working beautifully!

Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

I've tried uploading a photo of the repair, but no luck, could be because I'm a new member, I'll try again in the near future.

Rob
