Replacement board

Replacement board

2007-12-20 by Mark Glevicky

Hi

For a while there, a couple of years ago, Scott (Old Crow) was offering
replacement KLM-367 boards. I wrote him earlier this year about it again
and didn't get a reply. Also, haven't seen him around this board for quite
a while. Anyone know if he's still active and if he still might offer this
new board?

Thx,

Mark

I communicated with him last week about the board. He said he would have to
look around to see if he still had one laying around. I have yet to hear
back - and I don't want to pester. I'm guessing he doesn't have any. I
have resolved, though, to have the board fab'd myself. I'm hoping the
hi-res gifs that Crow has on his site will suffice to get some boards made.
Does anybody know if that's possible? The gif can be found here:

I think it might be hard to get a board house to take GIF's. But I
will buy a few boards if you are able to make any!

If you can get a hold of old crow, ask him for a copy of the files to
get the boards fabbed. If he doesn't have the boards anymore, and
isn't going to make any, I don't see why he wouldn't give you the
files to build them yourself.

the replacement voice chips for the Juno-106)......

THIS WAS HIS RESPONSE:

Hi, I looked at the schematics for this board. Problem is that it

IIRC, the old crow designed his replacement board to use common parts
versus what is required if you were to do an exact refab of the
originals. If his board needs a special rom installed, he would have
those files as well.

You guys are missing the point.

The intention of those newly manufactured boards was to be able to
move parts from the defected board to the new ones, so you take the
ROM from the bad board and place into the new board ;)

Oh, I thought that I remembered that the Old Crow boards were slightly
different so newer stuff could be used. Not *everything* was new of
course.

Re: [PolySix] Re: Replacement board

I've used a few of the Old Crow boards -- everything on the old
boards is transferrable to the new, except for the test switch and
the trimmer pots (which should be replaced with new ones at any rate).

Only other thing to watch out for, when replacing 367 parts, is to
check the orientation of the transistor leads -- ECB vs EBC, etc.

Too bad there are no materials existing at all.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
